Air Handling Units are manufactured assemblies of components (coils, filters, fans, humidifier, dampers, etc.) sized to condition and move a designed volume of air through a duct distribution system. They are equipped to provide the treatment of air - cooling, heating or both - by passing air over finned tubes which contain a conditioning medium.
Custom air handlers are generally used in large systems over 50,000 cfm. In these cases the units are frequently "built up". In other words, individual components are brought to the job site where they are "built up" into the custom air handler. In this way large air handlers can be custom manufactured to suit particular applications.
Multi-zone air handlers have additional sections containing separate components. These sections condition air which is ducted to different areas or zones of a structure.
Air Handling Units can be used in all types and categories of buildings which require the conditioning of air to maintain comfort requirements.
