With steady growth since 1984, Somerset is one of the largest, privately held, vertically integrated wood products companies in the United States.
Operations include two sawmills, a lumber division that supplies lumber domestically and internationally, and multiple flooring manufacturing facilities that produce prefinished and unfinished solid and SolidPlus® engineered hardwood flooring. In addition, Somerset owns and operates a state-of-the-art wood pellet facility that converts the excess wood fiber and sawdust generated at their plants to wood pellet biofuel. Over 50,000 tons of pellets are sold domestically each year—thereby reducing our country's dependence on foreign oil.
All Somerset flooring is proudly made in the USA and is sold through professional flooring distribution channels. The company's comprehensive line includes prefinished solid and engineered flooring for residential and light commercial applications organized into eight distinctive collections featuring a range of species, widths, colors, and textures. Unfinished flooring is also available for custom installations. Somerset is strategically located in the Appalachian region where lumber is renowned for its beauty and strength.
Somerset has been a green company before the term green was popular. Somerset's philosophy is to not spend time and resources touting their environmental practices, but instead, invests their resources in ways to be even more environmentally conscious and responsible. Somerset is one of the only major flooring manufacturers to employ a full-time forestry staff to sustainably manage their timberlands and create 100-year plans for the forests they own. The company is FSC-certified and supports key industry associations.
