Product Overview

Open Insulated Pipe Support

The current formulation of Snappitz Insulated Pipe Supports (patent pending) is a metal urethane, self-locking pipe support system five inches or larger, made with a 22 gauge galvanized metal jacket. The insulation varies from Trymer urethane or insul-phen and is adhered inside a 360 degree metal jacket. For pipe insulation larger than 7.65, a two-piece galvanized jacket is encased around the insulation. Snappitz is a user-friendly product that is cleaner than calcium silicate products.

Snappitz standard insulated pipe support size is four inches of insulation and jacketing for pipes ½ to two inches. Six-inch jacketing and insulation is used for pipes 2½ – 6 inches.



Snappitz Product Data

Snappitz are available in polyisocyanurate and insul-phen insulation for one to four-inch wall thicknesses. Snappitz prices are based on four inch long PVC on pipe sizes two inches and below. There is a price change for six inch long PVC pipe sizes that are 2½ inches and above. (Call for prices.) A wall thickness of ½ inch is provided using Trymer 2000 with four urethane and PVC jacket. The Trymer brand Polyisocyanurate Foam Insulation Pipe Supports are constructed of a special purpose rigid PVC profile extrusion compound jacket with an insulation of four inches in length.

Physical Properties

  • Insulation: Polyisocyanurate (Trymer foam insulation)
  • Jacket: Special purpose rigid PVC extrusion compound
  • Complies with the ASTM E 84-05 Standard Test Method for surface burning characteristics of materials.



Mechanical Pipe Shields recommends rigid polyisocyanurate insulation as it is a user friendly product with several advantages over calcium silicate. Generally, Trymer urethane has adequate compressive strength to meet the requirements of weight bearing loads at the hanger point.

Trymer 2000 urethane characteristics are:

  • Compressive strength = 24 psi average
  • Flexural strength = 44 psi average
  • K factor = 190 at 75 degrees F – aged 180 days
  • Working temperature range = -297 – 300 degrees F
  • Trymer 2000 insulation is used for ½ wall thickness insulation inserts

Insul-phen – Phenolic foam has the following characteristics:

  • Compressive strength = 3.758 54 psi average
  • K factor = 16 at 250 degrees F – aged 7 days
  • Working temperature range = -290 – 250 degrees F

  • Compressive strength = 3.75 54 psi average
  • K factor = 16 at 250 degree F – aged 7 days
  • Working temperature range = -290 – 250 degrees F
  • Trymer is used for ½ and one inch wall sizes. Insul-phen density is used for over one inch wall thickness size.



Snappitz Insulation Protection Shields

The new Mechanical Pipe Shields are constructed of self-locking PVC jacketing and polyisocyanurate insulation, also known as Trymer urethane or insul-phen. They are glued inside a one-piece, 360 degree PVC self-locking lap system and complies with all current international codes. A more user-friendly product, Snappitz are lighter weight and cleaner saving mechanical contractors time and money during installation. Standard size is four inches of insulation and four inches of jacketing for pipes ½ through two inches. Pipes 2½ – 6 inches consist of six inches of insulation and six inches of jacketing. Longer lengths are available upon request.
