Understand market opportunities for your products and services

Market size and product demand analysis evaluate the demand for a particular type of product (4-digit CSI code) based on specification penetration and “percent of spend.” RSMeans building models are applied to CMD’s project lead database to quantify the market opportunity for products in terms of material costs, labor costs and installed costs. The analysis extends to planning projects and bidding projects without specifications, which means the client’s view of relevant opportunities is not constrained by what’s been written into a spec.

Validate productivity and life-cycle costs of new product adoption

A custom calculator that compares the installed costs for a standard assembly (by project type and location) with the installed costs using a manufacturer-specific product. Building product manufacturer clients commonly use these calculators to educate owners and architects on the cost savings of using their products. For example, the products may have higher up-front costs to purchase the materials but the installed cost is much lower than average, resulting in a cost savings to the owner.

Demonstrate the productivity claims for new and existing products.

Time and motion studies are an installed cost analysis for manufacturer-specific products performed and validated by RSMeans engineers. The RSMeans team collects data, either in the field or in a controlled environment, on the labor and productivity rates to install a specific product and compares the results with U.S. labor and productivity averages. Many building product manufacturer clients use the results of these time and motion studies as input to their pricing model.
